VOGUE SPAIN : THE SECRET IS IN THE MIX !

SPANISH STYLE ICONS ARTICLE




Thank you Vogue Spain for featuring me in this months issue.  Vogue chose five Spanish style icons to be interviewed for the article 'The Secret is in the Mix' which included myself.

They discussed how each individual combined high end designs with lesser known brands to achieve their signature look.  I explained that I like to keep a simple base, but add statement pieces to my look, such as a hat, flashy patterns, a bejeweled blouse, or my own designer pieces. 

 They focused on my development as a designer covering my blog for Spanish Vogue, developing my own brand, creating an online website, collaborating with Madrid Fashion Week,  moving to England and opening a shop in Shoreditch, designing for Topshop, and creating a popular blog for my Jewellery brand. 

I love the style of the shoot wearing my favourite Miu Miu pants and my own jewellery.

ANITA PALLENBERG, EVIL GLAMOUR

ANITA PALLENBERG 







Anita Pallenburg is my latest girl crush.
The Italian born actress, model and fashion designer was famed for her relationships with Brian Jones and the Rolling Stone's Keith Richards.

 Pallenburg lived and breathed the 60's with Andy Warhol whose dil "The Factory" she starred in, all whilst struggling with alcoholism and an addiction to heroin.

  Marianne Faithful, one of her good friends described her quality as "evil glamour",as can be seen from her iconic pieces of fur, fringes, feathers all with a little squeeze of rock. 

I love her look and you can see through these grainy, romantic images that she had more than just her beauty. Richards bodyguard described Anita as "a life-force, a woman so powerful and so full of strength and determination that men came to lean on her".

SYMMETRICAL MIRRORED ME


Glorious winter colors. Mirror prints.






I love prints of all kinds (floral, micro, animal, retro, the list goes on), but my latest print crush is mirror prints. I made this symmetrical new pattern of myself. A profusion of glorious winter colours, symmetrical motifs, both feminine, and abstract!

My sunglasses are from Prada, jumper American Apparel.

NOSTALGIA


Latina in my veins. 
Frida Khalo










This image represents a traditional Spain, which fills me with nostalgia as I am overpowered with the red roses, sultry lips and the detailed accessories. 

The pearl and cone necklace represent the combination of feminism and passion, all in one piece, or one woman. The Frida Khalo brooch experiments with different patterns and textures, for any and every woman. The braid represents rooted traditional values, in the modern woman. 

 We have seen an explosion of experimental braiding within fashion, renewing traditional techniques with a modern day twist.  The Alexandre McQueen 2011 Spring/Summer show is a great example of this, where models had their hair transformed into woven wonders.

MORNING FUN



THE Cafe Allpress Espresso fun











 Started my morning at Cafe Allpress Espresso in Shoreditch with my friend Natu...

She is wearing big round sunglasses from River Island. Clothes from her shop The Lazy Ones.
My wool jumper is from Homeless and I found this stunning Bernstock Speirs hat in Liberty last week. So in love with the shape of it + the warm material. Chek out some hats they have online, I love them all!

ROSES AND BUTTERFLIES


And Damien Hirst's retrospective at the Tate Modern.





These images from the new campaign are my favorites ones as they exude both fun and warmth through the large roses and butterflies alongside the use of vintage lace, and cross detailing, which can be seen in this seasons looks.

 The butterfly elements make me recall visiting Damien Hirst's retrospective at the Tate Modern.  I was fascinated by the live butterflies surrounding the visitors upon entering the show. To me, it reflected thoughts of life and its fragility. These images from the new Frida is in Town editorial campaign represent the fun, warmth and happiness that freedom stands for.

Thank you Vanity Fair for mentioning my designs in your 'Daily obsession' section!
 They chose my silver gold plated skeleton hand with semi precious stones and blue Swarovski cone necklace from the Unborn collection. 

They described it as having punk elegance, yet another unique design. Moreover my collaboration with Maya Hansen for Madrid Fashion Week was mentioned, where Frida khalo made an appearance on the Madrid catwalks. 
It is so exciting when an such an important magazine as Vanity Fair recognises my designs, it inspires me to keep on developing and creating new amazing collections!

Yes, I WILL ALWAYS WAIT FOR YOU



















Are you encountering the winter blues yet, is the chill in the air becoming less refreshing? If so take a dive into my favourite magazine Lula new issue editorial 'I will wait for you there'. You will stumble across white sands, forests, palm trees, and urban meets tropical adventure.  
The pattern and print is the centre point of this editorial from simplistic to intense and clashing. Simplicity seems to be the key to these images, the use of overexposed, light filled images give a sense of nostalgia, 60's inspiration. 
My favourite piece has to be the jewel covered shades, beautiful!
